Introduction

The references plugin offers the possibility to display references of a media item within the Joomla core media manager and to update references on rename.

References are links to media files and can be found in the following areas of an item in the database:

• The description editor field
• A special media field like the articles images fields
• A media custom field

Display

When the plugin is activated, it automatically shows the amount of references and a paperclip for every media item in the list of the media manager on the top left corner. When there are references found a green clip is shown, otherwise a red one. If there are references found, then there is an action available which opens a modal displaying all the references.
